Background:

BM Roof Plumbing is a local Roof Plumbing business located in Gembrook. The serve the surrounding area, providing metal roof plumbing services to home owners.

Challenges:

The business was in the beginning stages and needed help with a website and growing their online presence in the local area. At this stage the business was a solo venture and was looking to grow into a team of roof-plumbers that could service a larger amount of customers. There were several problems that the business owner was facing:

  • Had a single page website created by their invoicing software that was not indexed on Google.
  • No knowledge or time to work on the website themselves and make it the way they needed it.

Strategy:

The early strategy was to create a well-designed website that made it simple for customers to get in touch with the company. People searching for these kind of services are usually just skimming through a website and looking for the contact information so that they can gather quotes, I think that is a big part of the strategy in a tradesmen's website that is often overlooked.

We targeted multiple key-words related to their most popular services to make the website more discoverable. We did this by creating pages dedicated to each service, this is a fantastic strategy for targeting search terms like 'roof leak' instead of just 'roof plumber' and I recommend it to every business.

We also worked hard to build trust on the website, showcasing reviews (the business had already gathered 20+ Google reviews on their own!) as well as adding images of the business owner, team and their high-quality roofing work.

Results:

Google Analytics In Month 1

The results exceeded mine and the business owner's expectations. The website went live in July 2024 and had 94 visitors in the first month! This is without any paid advertising, with most visitors coming from organic search and social media. This led to an insane amount of work for the business owner and in the beginning he actually had to pass work on to others.

This is not what I typically expect with a website right at the beginning, 3-6 months is typically how long I tell people it will take to see much traffic. It is entirely dependant on the competition both in your industry and area. The strong technical performance of the website and a highly optimised Google Business Page definitely had an impact as well.

This really showcases what a great website can do for a business, of course you need more to your advertising strategy than just a website - especially if you're in a competitive industry. But with some research and strategy we can attempt to get results just like this.

The First 5 Months Google Analytics



Over the past 5 months the website has seen nearly 500 visitors completely free, to put that in perspective:
If we were paying for this traffic at around $3 per click (the average for the industry) then it would have cost $1500 to have the same amount of traffic visit the site. At a 1% conversion rate that is 5 new customers, which for a tradesmen could be worth well over $20,000 and more than paid for the website.

In reality they exceeded these standards and got 16 form submissions alone, unfortunately we aren't tracking phone calls but it appears he is getting A LOT:

Ongoing Improvements

After a few months we recognised that there were other local areas that the competition for roof plumbers were low in. In October, we ran a trial and targeted a few suburbs with specific pages and saw results almost instantly.

Impressions took off and calls from the Google Business profile increased dramatically. The website was now ranking no.1 in the Google 'map pack' in those suburbs we had targeted. We will continue this campaign and it is something I think every local business needs to include in their strategy.

What a pleasure it was to work with BM Roof Plumbing. It is great to see people investing in growing their business and I love working on projects where I can have a great impact on the results. When I originally designed the website I did not expect this kind of results but now the owner is booked out for the rest of the year and is looking at expanding the business at the start of 2025. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with them and I look forward to continuing our efforts in 2025 and beyond
